Reusable Rocketry

What is it?

Reusable rocketry is simply the reuse of a booster stage of a rocket. This allows the stage to be used and then recycled to be used again. This, as you can imagine, drastically reduced the cost of launching a rocket, since you don't have to pay for the entire thing to be built from scratch. Instead, you only have to pay for the fuel and any minor repairs to the booster.

Why is it Important?

Reusable rocketry is important because it marks a major step in the innovation of space flight technology. The previously-mensioned cost reduction of this method will make this type of flight superior to the traditional means of getting objects out of the atmosphere. As more and more companies conduct research and test this concept, it will become more and more fesable.

How Does it Affect the Future?

Reusable rocketry effects the future because it will help revolutionize the space-flight industry. Ever since the Space Race, NASA funding has seen decreased more and more, limiting what the administration can do. This is where private companies come in, like Elon Musk's SpaceX. Without the need for government funding, SpaceX is able to conduct research and test concepts at their own will. This is exactly what they did with the Falcon 9, the first reusable booster engine system ever successfully developed. Hopefully, more companies like SpaceX will continue innovating and usher in a new era of space exploration.
